3.What ages does Dr. LaRocco work with? 

​

Children, adolescents, families & clients throughout their lifespan. 

 

4.Types of symptoms treated?

​

Treats clients experiencing symptoms of depressed mood, anxiety, or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Also, clients struggling with symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) & Autism Spectrum (ASD). 

 

In addition, works with individuals experiencing adjustment to life transitions (i.e. College Students, new job, divorce), emotion dysregulation, anger issues, self-injury, and executive function difficulties are often treated. Also, addictions ranging from screen addictions and gambling to substance abuse.

 

​5.What is Dr. LaRocco’s theoretical approach? 

 

Clients have unique needs. A holistic and evidenced based approach is used to tailor treatment to best meet needs of the client. Dr. LaRocco uses a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Attachment Theory, Developmental Psychology, and Family Systems Theory to treat individuals and families. 

 

This allows clients to learn more about their emotions, how to monitor & change thought processes, and how the combination of thoughts plus emotions impact behavior. The way that we think, feel, and behave is one part of therapy. Dr. LaRocco works with clients to understand their initial attachment processes and how it informs the present. Family systems theory works as a guide in providing knowledge about how families impact development.

Complements therapy through use of humor, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Art therapy, Play Therapy, & Behavioral Management. 

 

6.Parents involved?

​

Yes. Dr. LaRocco wants families to feel relief and empowered! Supports parents throughout the therapy process. When helpful, parents attend sessions with and without their child to learn parenting techniques and coping strategies with an aim to alleviate stress and pressure at home. 

 

7.Does Dr. LaRocco work with other professional to coordinate care?

​

Yes. Dr. LaRocco frequently works with client’s psychiatrist, primary care physician, family members, teachers, or school social workers/personnel. Dr. LaRocco is comfortable advocating for her client while working with schools to add to and update Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) & 504 plans.

 

8.What does Dr. LaRocco like to do for fun and self-care?

​

For fun, Dr. LaRocco works on DIY projects, spends time with family, hikes, plays games and tries new restaurants. For self care, she enjoys cooking healthy, reading, gardening, working out, and values being present to enjoy all the small things in life!
